Greg’s story is one that speaks to you, a free spirit born in Aberdeen, Scotland who’s drawn inspiration from Bob Dylan and followed that and his love of music around the world, landing him most recently in New York. He invited us to his place in Brooklyn and we welcomed in this song and the afternoon sun to his home studio (btw love Anna’s little peek at bedroom, looks like maybe we’ve taken the torch from Cribs, we’re going to need some more extreme editing and get people to say “this is where the magic happens” when we come through). There’s no doubt that one of the best things we’ve found is getting to hear an artist’s song in the hands of a friend, as with this version of Greg Laswell’s How The Day Sounds by Holden. It feels like there’s extra care taken with something precious of a friend’s, and almost an extra knowing wink in the voice saying “I know what you mean.” This one brought a chill thinking about the new day and the new songs so many are working for in Uganda and Congo…”from a long way down, it’s well worth the time that it’s taken to get here.” Thank you Greg for being part of this.
