Today was a historic day as President Barack Obama signed into law the The LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act! Many many thanks to and each of you who took the time to sign petitions and spread the word about the crisis in the region. As Americans, we will not be closing it’s eyes to the terror that has reigned in the region for almost 25 years.
Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA) was quoted as saying, “This bill’s success is due to the grassroots effort of young people across the U.S. committed to ending the atrocities of Joseph Kony and his Lord’s Resistance Army.”
The war is not over, and it’s up to us all to see that real policy is implemented and support given to those who need it, but this is a big step. A good day. Here’s some amazing footage from the Resolve Uganda team:
