NEW YORK—The Voice Project has filed an urgent appeal with the UN’s Special Rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment to intervene on behalf of imprisoned Pussy Riot member Nadezhda (Nadya) Tolokonnikova. In a letter to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Hunter Heaney, Executive Director of The Voice Project requested action by Special Rapporteur Juan Méndez, advising that since September 25th the hospitalized Tolokonnikova has been cut off from all contact with her family and lawyers.
