In support of ongoing four-day protests in Los Angeles’ Ports, Tom Morello, also known as guitarist for Rage Against The Machine Guitarist and as The Nightwatchman, has joined over 120 workers and truck drivers in protesting unfair labor practices.

Tom Morello led demonstrators in songs from his albums Union Town and World Wide Rebel Songs, as well as Pete Seeger's "This Land Is Your Land" on July 9.

Morello’s action and support comes as no surprise, as he is a longtime active member of both the American Federation of Musicians and the Industrial Workers of the World, and outspoken advocate for union rights.

In 2011 and 2012, Morello also lent his voice to the Occupy Wall Street movement, with a video below.

Morello is part of a long line of activist musicians, including Bruce Springsteen, with whom he has collaborated on many occasions. As Springsteen has made himself known for anti-war efforts, Morello has fought for social and economic justice on many occasions, including last year’s demonstrations against the “Walmartization” of historic Los Angeles Neighborhoods.

As the striking workers have set no date for the end of the demonstrations, and a contract which allows the ports to send workers back to work expires Friday, there is no end in sight.

Los Angeles-based activists who want to lend their support to Morello and the workers can find them at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
