In terms of passing the music and the message along this one’s about as direct as you can get with Orenda and Cedric from O+S standing right off camera (love when Maria turns to Orenda and checks the name of the song). Ryan shot this in the back room at our second Roosevelt pool party in LA. It was an amazing night with so many friendly faces, so many incredible and talented friends gathered in one place and a lot of love that night. It was also a great homecoming in a way – our first Roosevelt party was a year ago, one of the very first things we did to start The Voice Project when we joined up with Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros for their debut album release to raise money for the ladies in Uganda and to figure some way to help carry their message of peace and forgiveness. The message has traveled a long way since then and the women’s voices keep growing louder, but coming home is always nice (think we’re going to have to make this an annual event). Good people coming together to share in the idea and the spirit of love and community, one that we’re all a part of wherever in the world we may be. Maria captures the heart of this song beautifully in hush and simplicity.
