The Federal Penitentiary Service in Mordovia has confirmed that Nadezhda Tolokonnikova has been moved to Camp LPU-21’s hospital in the village of Barashevo. Lawyers and family are still being barred from access.
Tolokonnikova’s Lawyers, Irina Khrunova and Dmitry Dinze, have filed a petition with the director of the Russian Federal Corrections Services (FSIN), Gennady Kornienko, demanding immediate access to their client. Tolkonnikova declared a hunger strike in protest of conditions in her prison colony on September 23.
According to the lawyers’ petition, no external contact of any sort with Tolokonnikova has been allowed for the past 60 hours. Prison authorities claim that she is too weak to enter into communication. Tolokonnikova’s lawyers fear that, isolated from her advisors and family, she may be subjected to “psychological or other forms of pressure.” Her husband, Petr Verzilov, in support of the petition, has declared that he fears for her life. Nadia’s lawyer Khrunova stated in an interview today: “Honestly, I am in a panic.”
The Voice Project’s Pussy Riot Support Fund is an international fund taking in donations from around the world; proceeds are used to keep Nadia and Masha clothed, supplied, visited and monitored in the labor camps (this is critical for their ongoing safety), and for their legal expenses and children’s care.
