I went to shoot Chris at the Living Room in The Lower East Side as he was performing there later that night and they were kind enough to let us in early. It took a few minutes to find the switch to the overhead fans that were making a terrible screeching sound but we did and soon enough were underway with this beautiful cover of “St Andrews.” It’s fun for us when someone chooses to cover an artist that’s already done a session and to find out why they chose that person…in this case it was the Canadian connection, getting back to that sense of community we started all this with. Like we used to say often, anyone can cover a classic, but there is that special sort of nod one gives to a contemporary in covering their song, a feeling of kinship, and made even more special when the artists speak across different styles so that the song really can take a new breath as with this version. Thanks to Chris, the good folk at The Living Room, and our long time supporters and friends at Bedouin Soundclash. — Anna
