It was a cold wintery day when I went over to meet The Trews at their rehearsal space in Toronto. John-Angus met me at the door and welcomed me in from the cold, leading me through the twisting halls to meet the rest of the guys, all of whom where the most welcoming and friendly of people. I really felt at home in their rehearsal room, which seemed to reflect the personalities of the very band who inhabited it with warmth and soul.
The guys said they were delighted for having the chance to be a part of the Voice Project community and wanted to pass on the good vibes with a cover of Dave “Rave” DesRoches’ “All of the Love.” To the tune of John-Angus and Colin’s acoustic guitars, Jack’s plugged-in bass, and Sean’s hand drum, I felt lucky to witness such a beautiful, soulful cover. When it comes to spreading kindness and support across the world, a song like “All of the Love” really hits home. — Phil
