So our theme (and setting) is very often home, and those spaces that we often call home…and sometimes for the musicians they are rolling ones, but either way, glad Tyler was able to find a nice quiet spot to shoot this one with the boys. Working at The Voice Project has the fringe benefit of finding out about a lot of great music and this is probably our favorite way, when an artist covers a friend… we’ve written before about how it’s such a great act of community and support, so similar in spirit to what the women in Uganda showed us that inspired us to start this project, but let’s face it, it’s also a great way for us to hear new stuff. It Was true right from the beginning when Dawes covered Blake Mills with a tune he hadn’t even put out himself yet at the time. But it’s also just nice to see the camaraderie and respect to fellow artists and friends. Joseph Arthur’s cover of his mentor Peter Gabriel comes to mind, Tom Freund covering his friend Brett Dennen, Deer Tick doing the Shivers, and the whole story of Mike Mills covering Billy Bragg and then seeing him at SXSW and telling him about this is one of our favorites. At any rate, thanks so much to Colyn and Aiden for this performance in that same spirit, and you can check out more from Arn Rhys here: http://arnrhys.bandcamp.com/
